Bajpai also alleged that the state government was playing politics over Khalid’s death by getting the FIR registered strategically.

The UP BJP chief today held a meeting with the party’s office-bearers of the state team,regional and district units regarding preparations for the week-long nationawide Jal Bharo Andolan beginning on May 27.

The party has directed workers to raise the issues of alleged Muslim appeasement by the Samajwadi Party government,its move to withdraw cases against Muslim youths accused in terror cases and specifically the Khalid case during the Andolan.

Bajpai said,“The state government has recommended another inquiry by the CBI. Three inquiries in one particular case is against natural justice.”

Nine cops suspended

Lucknow SSP J Ravinder Goud on Tuesday suspended nine policemen including a sub-inspector for “dereliction of duty by not carrying terror accused Khalid Mujahid to the nearest hospital” after his health deteriorated near Barabanki at the time of his return from Faizabad court to Lucknow jail. Mujahid was taken to Barabanki district hospital,which is 30 km from the place where his condition had deteriorated.

According to a statement from the SSP,those suspended included S-I Ram Awadh Ram and nine constables —- Chandrashekhar,Anand Prakash,Jitendra,Manoj Kumar,Ramji Yadav,Deepak Kumar,Jaiprakash and Lalaram. All the suspended policemen were posted at Lucknow reserve police line.
