The ballistic test on licenced weapons belonging to slain village pradhan Nanhey Yadav and his brothers Suresh and Phoolchand is learnt to have confirmed firing by these firearms after the pradhan was murdered at Balipur village in Pratapgarh district on March 2.
The FIR lodged by then station officer of Hathigawan police station Manoj Shukla into the murder of Kunda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Circle Officer Ziaul Haque had alleged that pradhans brothers and his son had shot dead the officer. He reportedly had told the CBI too during questioning that he had seen pradhans brothers and his son firing when the police team was attacked.
A CBI team on Tuesday visited Balipur village and questioned the pradhans brother,Sudhir,about the use of licenced weapon belonging to his brothers that night. Sudhir is reportedly an eyewitness to the sequence of event leading to the murders of Suresh and Haque that night. The licenced weapons .315 bore rifle,.12 bore double barrel gun and .32 bore pistol belongs to Nanhey and his brothers Suresh and Phoolchand,respectively.
The CBI had seized the firearms and four cartridges each of the rifle and the double barrel gun and a magazine of the pistol containing five cartridges last week. The arms and ammunition were sent for the ballistic test. Phoolchand told The Indian Express that the CBI team visited his house today and questioned his brother Sudhir over the attack on police team and firing by the people gathered after the pradhans murder. When inquired about details revealed by his brothers and pradhans son,Phoolchand replied that he was not aware about the information given by them.
Meanwhile,the sources said that the CBI team visited a few of the villagers too who reportedly were present when the police team were attacked.
