An Australian tourist was allegedly molested by a youth while travelling on Mathura-Patna Express early today. The accused was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
A case of molestation was registered at the Charbagh police station in Lucknow after the train reached there. The accused,Shekhar Sharma of Indira Nagar Colony in Lucknow,was sent to jail after being produced before a local court.
Station House Officer,GRP,Shyama Kant Tripathi said John Dunn of Sydney lodged an FIR stating that he,along with his 18-year-old friend,had boarded the AC-III-tier coach on Monday night.
As the train left Agra,a fellow passenger allegedly molested his friend.
Dunn alleged that the accused got involved in an altercation when he and the victim objected. Dunn then informed the TTE about the matter,who called two policemen who were on duty in the train. The cops took the man in custody.
Sharma is an interior decorator,Tripathi said. The SHO said that the Australian tourists had visited Mathura and were on their way to Varanasi.
