Expressing “profound grief and sorrow” over the incident, he conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, and prayed for a swift recovery of the injured.

Urging the government to conduct a “comprehensive, unbiased, and multi-dimensional investigation” into the incident, Rahmani said if the incident was accidental, it is extremely unfortunate. “But if it was an act of terrorism, it is deeply alarming and raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the country’s security apparatus — since even the most sensitive areas of the national capital are not secure,” Rahmani said.

He further added that in this hour of trial and grief, the AIMPLB stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and prays for the early recovery of all those injured.

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind also demanded a “transparent, high-level investigation and an immediate accountability” for security lapses, and adequate compensation for the victims and their families.

In a statement, JIH president Syed Sadatullah Husaini said, “Preliminary media reports suggest this may have been an act of terror. If confirmed by investigating agencies, we unequivocally condemn this heinous act and demand that the culprits be brought to justice at the earliest. Such an incident in the heart of the national capital represents a grave lapse in security. There must be immediate accountability from those in power who are responsible for public safety. The lives and security of citizens are paramount, and the government must fulfill its constitutional duty to protect them.”

Hussaini also criticised certain sections of the media and social media users, saying, “In hours of crisis, we need unity and solidarity among citizens more than ever. Those who use such despicable incidents for their ideological or political gains must be called out and punished as per the law.”

Hussaini sought stringent punishment for the culprits and accountability from those responsible for security lapses at the highest levels.

Hussaini added, “Terrorism can not be an expression of any religion, it is its betrayal. Every violent act, under any banner, deserves the same unequivocal condemnation. Let people of all beliefs unite now to counter radicalization, to reject hate, and to work together to uproot the causes and networks of terror. Only a united society can protect the country’s pluralism, peace, and future.”
