Akhilesh urges Centre to intervene, dismiss BSP govt

Reiterating its demands for the dismissal of the BSP government in UP,state’s main opposition Samajwadi Party said the Centre must intervene to keep the situation under control in the state.

Reiterating its demands for the dismissal of the BSP government in UP,state’s main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) said the Centre must intervene to keep the situation under control in the state.

The SP,which is an ally of the ruling UPA government at the Centre, also added that if the Centre fails to intervene in the matter,it will have serious consequences.

Addressing a press conference, the SP’s state unit president Akhilesh Yadav said all the opposition parties, including the SP,have demanded dismissal of the state government. He said the opposition parties have submitted their memorandum to the Governor, seeking dismissal of the BSP government in UP,but no attention is paid to this demand.

Yadav said the killing of three senior health officials had shocked people. “There is no probe into the roles of two former ministers who had submitted their resignation after the detection of financial irregularities in the implementation of NRHM scheme,” Yadav said.

Although the farmers’ agitation forced the state government to introduce a new rehabilitation and re-settlement policy, the situation has already gone worse than that in West Bengal’s Nandigram and Singur,he added.

Referring to the June 27 meeting held by the CM with the government officers,Akhilesh said that the manner in which the CM Mayawati threatened the government officers to suspend and dismiss them in the name of law and order has showed her frustration in view of her shrinking support base among the people.

“This government has failed on every front. The state first witnessed farmers’ agitation over the issue of land acquisition. Now,the government is not in a position to put an effective check on the growing number of crime cases against women and children in the state,” he told reporters.

The SP,meanwhile, also slammed the Mayawati government for issuing suspension and dismissal threats to honest officials in the name of improving law and order in the state and said it would not serve any purpose. Yadav alleged that the state government has proven to be a failure on all fronts. “Frustrated over its failure, the government is now threatening honest officials with dismissal, suspension and adverse entry in their character roll,” he said.
