4 dead after drinking ‘excess’ liquor

As many as four persons died on Friday while two others were still undergoing treatment after consuming excess liquor in Ghazipur district.

As many as four persons died on Friday while two others were still undergoing treatment after consuming “excess” liquor in Ghazipur district.

According to police,two youths — Sonu Ram and Ajay Kumar — both residents of Awati village under Dildarnagar police station,had consumed liquor on Wednesday. After they fell ill,they were hospitalised in Ghazipur,police said. Both of them died on Friday morning. While Sonu’s body had been cremated by the family members,police were getting the post-mortem of the other person conducted.

In another incident linked to consumption of liquor,six persons had fallen ill after consuming liquor in Trilokpur village under Suhwal police station on Thursday. Police said all of them were rushed to Ghazipur district hospital where two of them,Brajesh Singh (36),a farmer,and Ram Pyare (65),a retired army man,died on Friday. While two others were undergoing treatment,two had been sent to Varanasi after their condition deteriorated.

Babloo Kumar,SP (Rural Area),said all the persons who fell sick drank rum meant only for defence personnel.
