Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not repeat what she had done a few days ago when she had dubbed a farmer as Maoist after he questioned the Chief Minister about the rising prices of fertiliser at a rally in Belpahari. On Wednesday,as she was addressing a public meeting in Nadia,a youth shouted ‘fertiliser, fertiliser’ referring to its high price. This time, the Chief Minister preferred to reply. Banerjee said,”This (the price of fertiliser) is a central subject and not a state subject. As such we cannot do much about the prices. But I have taken up the issue with the Prime Minister. I told him about the plight of farmers during my last visit to Delhi.”
