The BJP on Tuesday said the Trinamool Congress is using a "special community" to carry out attacks in Bengal. Addressing a press conference on the attack on BJP leader Khagen Murmu, Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said, West Bengal is being turned into "West Bangladesh". He said the suspects involved in the attack were prominent TMC leaders. BJP MP Khagen Murmu and party MLA Shankar Ghosh were left bleeding after a mob attack in Jalpaiguri district's Nagrakata village. The BJP leaders had gone there on Monday to check on people hit by flood and landslide in the Dooars region of Bengal. Press Conference by @SamikBJP, State President, @paulagnimitra1, MLA, Asansol & State General Secretary at Asansol & Adv. Debjit Sarkar, State Spokesperson at Salt Lake BJP Office. — BJP West Bengal (@BJP4Bengal) October 7, 2025 Alleging that there have been no arrests in the case due to political reasons, Bhattacharya said the only reason the BJP was attacked was because its candidates got healthy leads from the constituency. "The TMC is instigating a community against the BJP across Bengal. TMC is making a concerted effort to terrorise people everywhere. They are doing this before the SIR is conducted so that Election Commission officials do not reach certain areas. We demand an probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This cannot go on." 'State may say Khagen Murmu was eve-teasing' Naming four of the suspects allegedly involved in the attacks, the BJP posted on X: "Ramjan Ali, Saiful Haque, Ainul Ansari, Pinki Khatun. It is always the special community which Trinamool uses to carry out attacks. Mamata is playing a dangerous game in West Bengal — her intention is clear: she wants to make it like Bangladesh, and she is working in that direction. BJP and every BJP karyakarta are a hindrance to her plans, which is why she attacks us. People have decided — Trinamool’s time is near, and no violence or force can save it." Bhattacharya said: "Shall we assume that BJP leaders would be attacked in Muslim areas? If all Muslims in the state endorse this, it is time they rethink their preferences." Referring to the ST commission seeking a report from the Bengal government, Bhattacharya said: "The ST Commission is doing its job. But we all know what reports the state submits. It may well be possible for the state government to write in its report that Khagen Murmu had eve-teased a woman and that's why the locals attacked him."
