Tiger which attacked forest guard held after 12 hours’ search in Sunderbans
Around 3.30 am on Tuesday, forest guards were able to tranquilise the tiger in Maipith in the Sunderbans.

After more than 12 hours of search, the West Bengal Forest department finally managed to catch the Royal Bengal Tiger which attacked and injured a forest guard in the Sunderbans on Monday.
Around 3.30 am on Tuesday, forest guards were able to tranquilise the tiger, which is now under observation by the Forest department.
A forest officer said, “It is a male tiger. It is doing well and has no injury.”

On Sunday, the villagers of Maipith in Sunderbans had informed the district Forest department that a tiger has entered the area.
On Monday, when the forest officials and guards started a search operation with nets, the tiger attacked Ganesh Shyamal, a resident of the area working with the Forest department on a temporary basis.
The tiger jumped on his head. However, other guards beat the big cat with sticks and after a while, the animal fled. Shyamal was first taken to a local hospital before being shifted to the SSKM hospital in Kolkata.
