In a letter to Governor M K Narayanan, the BJPs state unit has alleged that the state government is avoiding CBI investigation into the Saradha scam to shield its own ministers involved in it.
The pace at which the investigations are taking place, none of the offenders would be held. Suspended TMC MP Kunal Ghosh had said that nine more persons were involved in the scam. Why are their names not being revealed and why are they not being summoned for interrogation? questioned state BJP president Rahul Sinha.
The party chief cites the Shyamal Sen Commission as an eyewash. It has been put up to delay the process. She (Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee) had demanded a CBI inquiry into every little thing but now she is trying to avoid it for a scam as huge as this (Saradha), he said.
Sinha also took a dig at the very law proposed against Ponzi firms.
The Centre had rejected both the erstwhile CPMs and the present ruling governments anti-ponzi scheme bill. Why didnt the state rework on it according to the their instructions? Sinha said
He added the other three states affected by the scam Bihar,Assam and Tripura have already asked for a CBI intervention. Our government is the only one displaying a continued aversion to it.
Condeming the support lent by the CPM to the Raghuram Rajan panels report which did not identify West Bengal as a backward state,Sinha said they should have opposed the Centre because the state would lose out on a lot of funds.
He,however, asserted that any extra money allocated to the cash-strapped West Bengal needed to be judiciously used and not squandered on utsavs and donations, which is what,he alleged, the CM has been doing for last two-and-a-half year.
She has been spending recklessly in festivities while the roads are still lying unrepaired, Sinha said.
