While the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court,in the wake of the recent bomb blast in Delhi, instructed to upgrade the security around the court premises,in a high-level meeting on security on Monday,the Speaker of the Assembly raised an objection to the parking of cars by advocates outside the Assembly fencing.
Biman Banerjee,the Speaker,today held a meeting on the issue of security with Commissioner of Kolkata Police. Mayor of Kolkata Sovon Deb Chatterjee,Registrar General of the High Court M P Srivastab and representatives of the Bar Association of the High court were present in the meeting. The Assembly is located in close proximity of the Calcutta High Court.
Banerjee said the advocates cars parked just outside the fencing of the Assembly can create security threat for the Assembly.
The Speaker further said Chief Justice of the High Court Jaynarayan Patel would visit the area on Tuesday and following that the parking issue would be resolved.
Meanwhile,Bhaskar Prasad Baishya,the general secretary of the Bar Association,said advocates parked their vehicles outside the Assembly only when there was no session in the House.
