School jobs scam: ED searches 3 premises ‘linked to Sujay Bhadra’

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday searched at least three properties linked to Kolkata-based businessman Sujay Krishna Bhadra in alleged connection with the West Bengal School Service Commission recruitment scam, officials said.

Officials said the agency searched properties in Bhowanipore and New Alipore areas of the state capital. According to sources, the residence of Bhadra’s daughter Parmita Chattopadhyay and her husband Devrup in Bhowanipore area and a private company’s office in New Alipore were among the premises that were searched by the ED.

Sources also said a location in South 24 Parganas’ Bishnupur was also searched by the central agency. The ED has alleged that Bhadra used his daughter and son-in-law’s bank accounts to launder the proceeds from the school jobs scam.

In the past, Bhadra has on several occasions addressed Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee as his “malik (boss)” who allegedly established a company where the former worked at a high-level position.
As per officials, the company established by TMC natiohnal general secretary has a registered office in Kolkata and manufactures packaged mineral water. Bhadra had been working for the TMC national general secretary since 2009, they added.
