Purge in party will take place from top, says Biman

Left Front chairman and CPM politburo member Biman Bose today said that purging within the party will begin from the top and will not be given up at any point of time as it is a continuous process.

Left Front chairman and CPM politburo member Biman Bose today said that purging within the party will begin from the top and will not be given up at any point of time as it is a continuous process.

“The process of purgation and rejuvenation of the party has begun. We believe it should start from the very top,” said Bose.

Interestingly, his opinion was shared by top party leaders, including state Land Reforms Minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah who on numerous occasions had raised the issue.

Bose hinted that the purgation will be initiated from the Politburo.

Speaking to mediapersons at Alimuddin Street,Bose said the issue of holding an early Assembly poll in view of their poll reverses was not discussed in the party and in the Left Front.

Bose’s observation was contradictory to state Industries Minister Nirupam Sen’s view that the CPM state leadership had decided not to hold an early Assembly polls.

“The issue of holding early Assembly elections has not been discussed in the party or in the Left Front. Neither any decision on this has been taken. Any minister talking on this issue is expressing his personal opinion,” said Bose.

He also tried to draw a line between the Congress and its ally Trinamool Congress,by describing the former a party of ideologies and programmes and the latter as an organisation without any such things.

Trying to drive a wedge between Trinamool Congress and its ally Congress,Bose praised Congress as a party. “Congress and Trinamool Congress are not the same. Congress has its own policies and programmes which are absent in Trinamool Congress. Siddhartha Shankar Ray is,however, acting as the advisor for Trinamool Congress being in the Congress,” said Bose.

According to Bose,Trinamool still has links with the Maoists and is carrying out its activities with the outlawed organisation.

Bose said the UPA government is not taking any steps to control price hike and CPM will organise a nationwide movement against it. He said food security to the people must be ensured and prices of essential commodities must be checked.

On Monday’s rally in Rani Rashmoni Road,Bose said more than two lakh party supporters are expected to attend.

“I will urge people to take some time in their hands while leaving for work or to catch a train or flight. Since so many people will attend the rally, there will be problems for commuters. I apologise for the same,” said Bose.

CPM slams minister for praising Mamata’s Singur proposal
The CPM slammed state Land Revenue Minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah on Sunday for welcoming Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee’s proposal for a joint venture railway project at Singur without consulting the chief minister.

“If the minister had anything to say on the Railway Minister’s proposal,he could have talked to the chief minister instead of giving his reaction to the media,CPM state secretary Biman Bose said.

On Friday, senior CPM leader Mollah had welcomed the proposal but opposed the return of 400 acres of land to the farmers which the Railway Minister had set as a condition.
