Narkeldanga rape accused sent to police custody

Kolkata:A youth,who was handed over to the police by the residents of Narkeldanga in Kolkata for allegedly raping a woman,has been sent in police remand till September 12. Mohd Jumman was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly raping the woman,whom he knew,by taking her to Bowbazaar on the pretext of getting her Adhaar card made. It has been alleged that police initially refused to file a report. Only after the locals demonstrated in front of the Narkeldanga police station,Jumman was arrested.

Raipur youth granted bail by High Court

Kolkata:The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Sagar Srivas,who was arrested by the Lake Town police station on August 2 from Raipur in Chhattishgarh. Srivas(23),who married Komal Kaldel(22),daughter of a diamond merchant,was accused by the girl’s family of abducting her. The girl,however,has stood by Srivas and has allege that her family has threatened to kill her.
