Man kills mother,sister in Burdwan

A 24-year-old man allegedly killed his mother and elder sister in a fit of rage in Burdwan district’s Goalpara village on Sunday.

A 24-year-old man allegedly killed his mother and elder sister in a fit of rage in Burdwan district’s Goalpara village on Sunday.

Rajesh Ray,who has been arrested,was reportedly in an inebriated condition when he committed the murders. Ray has also been charged with slitting the wrist of his seven-year-old nephew,who has been admitted to a hospital. According to locals,Ray’s father Nandalal was at his factory when the incident took place. When he returned home,he found Ray sitting beside the bodies.

Ray was an alcoholic who used to have regular quarrels with his family,said police.

Officer-in-Charge of Andal police station,Ashok Kumar Mishra,said: “The locals informed us of the murders,following which,we arrested Rajesh from his home.”

The bodies bore multiple stab injuries. The police are yet to recover the weapon used in the crime. “He must have hid it somewhere. We are interrogating him and will soon recover it,” said Mishra.
