For raising ‘anti-national slogans’, police book unknown persons at Kolkata protest against R G Kar rape and murder

The case has been registered under sections 152 (acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India), 285 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), and 3(5) (establishes joint criminal liability when two or more individuals act with a common intention) of the BNS.

The incident sparked outrage after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Keya Ghosh shared a purported video on X of people shouting the slogans at the rally. “Whose conspiracy is trying to disrupt the movement with these two-five people?” she wrote on Sunday.

On the same day, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh claimed that the rally took place in Jadavpur on his social media handle. He wrote that “instead of demanding (CM Mamata Banerjee’s) resignation, (the protestors in the video) are diverting attention from the real issue.”

” You won’t be able to understand when anti-national slogans demanding ” #Azadi “(freedom) arise from a protest, march, or movement seeking justice for Abhaya and other such causes! In Jadavpur, during one such protest, slogans for Azadi were raised,” he wrote.
