Retired judge of Calcutta High Court Justice D P Sengupta, who is heading the judicial commission set up to probe the death of CPM legislator Mostafa Bin Quasem, will visit the MLA Hostel on Kyd Street on Wednesday.

Quasem had allegedly jumped from a balcony of the MLA Hostel on May 29,just days after he won from Basirhat.

The police had termed it as suicide and cited a suicide note in which Quasem had named many senior CPM leaders like Gautam Deb,Amitava Nandi,Tarit Topdar and Amitava Basu for pressurising him to contest the polls.

But Quasem’s family members have debunked the “theory” saying he was too weak to jump off from the balcony of the hostel.

After Quasem’s family members met chief minister Mamata Banerjee, the government set up a judicial commission in June to probe the death.

Till date, the commission has held four hearings. Four members of Quasem’s family have given their statements to the commission. They include MLA’s son, wife, daughter and brother.
