Kolkata: A 75-year-old man was found dead and valuables worth Rs 1 lakh missing from his Baithak Khana Road in north Kolkata on Sunday morning. Two labourers,who were repairing the three-storeyed house,were also missing. The body of Gour Mohan Sarkar bored injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon. According to the police,Sarkar’s wife,Kalpana Sarkar,had left her home to buy vegetables in the morning. When she returned,she found her house completely ransacked. The prime motive seems to be burglary,said the police.

‘Jyoti Basu loved Kosha Mangsho’
New Delhi: Jyoti Basu was a foodie and relished well-cooked mutton,says the late CPM patriarch’s granddaughter. “Grandpa loved food. His real craze was well-cooked mutton dishes,” says Mallika Basu,who has come out with a cookbook Miss Masala. “I’ve included one of his favourite mutton preparations — Kosha Mangsho —in my book,” adds 32-year-old Mallika,who is a director of a PR firm in London. She,however,loved cooking pastas and soups for Basu. “My grandpa always preferred me to cook pastas and soups for him.”
