Kolkata: Ten persons were arrested when the police raided a club at Dasnagar in Howrah early this morning following information that unlicensed firearms and bombs were stockpiled there.

Four of the accused,including Mohammad Raju,Mohammad Javed,Sailendra Singh and Hamraj Thakur,were remanded in police custody for seven days while others were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days after being produced before the Howrah CJM Court this afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off,police from four police stations,including Howrah,Jagacha and Bantra,raided the APJ Club at Sealdanga village and arrested the miscreants. Ten revolvers,28 bullets,around 30 bombs and swords were recovered from the club premises,the police said. They also found huge quantity of sodium sulphide,ammonium nitrate,sulphur and petrol from stored to make bombs.

Man found dead

Kolkata: A railway employee,Parth Sarathi Roy (40),was found dead at his residence at Sonarpur Station Road in South 24-Parganas on Saturday. According to locals,the victim,who lived in the second floor of the house,used to go to a fast-food shop in the morning every day. When he did not turn up today,the shop owner,accompanied by some locals,went to his house around 9.30 am and found his body on the second floor. According to a senior officer,there was no injury mark on the body. The neighbours,however,claimed they saw an injury mark on the throat.
