Health insurance for Tollywood artistes

Kolkata:Health insurance with a coverage of Rs 1.25 lakh for each artistes and technicians of film studios in Tollygunj was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday. Welcoming the move,director Gautam Ghosh,said,“This was a long-standing demand of technicians,who find it very difficult to meet their medical expenses.” Banerjee also announced a pension of Rs 750 per month for folk artistes.

Separate tribal affairs dept to be led by CM

Kolkata:Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced setting up of a separate department of tribal affairs,which would function under her. “Tribal people have many grievances,but they don’t know where to lodge complaints to draw government’s attention immediately. Therefore,a separate tribal affairs department will be created just like the minority affairs department,” Mamata said. Till date,tribal affairs was looked by Backward Classes Welfare Department.
