On Wednesday, the counsel of former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh informed the Special CBI Court that they would require time to go through the “voluminous documents” provided by the CBI in the financial irregularities case.

The court said the matter has to be heard on Saturday as another hearing in the same case is to be held on Tuesday (February 18) by the Calcutta High Court.

Meanwhile, the CBI informed the court that scanned copies of the chargesheet, sanction, index, and other documents have been provided in a folder.

On Tuesday, while hearing the case, a Calcutta High Court bench of Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Gaurang Kanth observed that the accused who are in custody, including Ghosh, have a right to a fair and speedy trial. The CBI had already filed a report on their supply of documents to the counsel of the accused as directed by the Calcutta High Court.
