Bus owners threaten strike from Oct 1

An organisation of private bus owners has threatened to go on an indefinite strike in the state from October 1 if the West Bengal government does not announce a fare hike within 48 hours.

An organisation of private bus owners has threatened to go on an indefinite strike in the state from October 1 if the West Bengal government does not announce a fare hike within 48 hours.

A spokesperson of the Joint Council of Bus Syndicates said that its members would be forced to withdraw vehicles from the roads from October 1 if the state government does not announce an immediate fare increase. Some private bus operators had earlier observed a three-day strike from September 17 demanding fare hike.
