The bus operators for their part agreed with the Kerala government that a redressal system to address passenger grievances will be set up for each bus plying on these routes.

Inter-state bus passengers are now forced to either cancel their trips or to make alternate arrangements to reach various destinations in Kerala using other means - by trains for which tickets need to be booked much in advance or by flights paying a huge sum.

Taking a cue from their counterparts in West Bengal,the private bus operators in Punjab on Friday threatened they will stop plying their vehicles from October 1 if the state government failed to increases bus fares and value added tax (VAT) on diesel and cut the motor vehicle tax.
