Bengal Governor sacks Kazi Nazrul University V-C over graft charges
According to reports, a section of students and teachers from the university have been staging a protest on the campus demanding the VC’s resignation since March 13, while accusing him of corruption. Sources said Chakraborty was allegedly involved in “financial irregularities”.

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose Sunday ordered the removal of Kazi Nazrul University vice-chancellor following allegations of corruption against the latter.
The Governor, who is also the Chancellor of state universities, relieved Kazi Nazrul University vice-chancellor Sadhan Chakraborty of his duties. A mail in this regard has been sent to university’s registrar Chandan Kar. The government-aided university is located at Asansol in Paschim Bardhman district.

Since the protests started, the Kazi Nazrul University vice-chancellor has tried to enter the campus twice but was prevented from doing so by the agitating students and teachers.
On Saturday, Governor Bose attended an event at Kalyani University and had asked both Chakraborty and the protesting students of teachers of Kazi Nazrul University to meet him and discuss the matter. Although the students and teachers came to meet the Governor, the vice-chancellor gave the meeting a miss.
After holding talks with the agitating teachers and students, Governor Bose removed the vice-chancellor from his post. Sources said Chakraborty is likely to move Calcutta High Court.
