BJP Bengal MPs to meet Amit Shah on Monday to discuss several issues including the TMC’s allegations on migrant harassment, the RG Kar Case and the SIR in Bihar.

The Member of Parliament (MP) from the West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will meet with Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday in Delhi. According to party sources, the Home Minister will chair a meeting with all the Bengal BJP MPs to strategize on countering the allegations raised by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the Assembly.

The TMC has been vocal about the alleged harassment of Bengali-speaking migrant workers and their pushback into Bangladesh. Additionally, TMC MPs have been holding protests on the Parliament premises regarding the implementation of the SIR (Special Investigation Report) in Bihar, which they oppose in West Bengal. The meeting will address these issues and discuss the counterstrategy for the BJP MPs.

“Tomorrow, we will have a meeting with the Home Minister. While it is strictly a party meeting, we will also address the RG Kar issue. The parents of the victim doctor have shared certain insights and provided us with documents that we will present. However, we cannot make any commitments as the CBI is currently investigating the matter,” stated BJP State President and MP Shamik Bhattacharya at the press conference.

Bhattacharya further highlighted that another significant issue in Bengal is radicalization, especially in light of recent events in Bangladesh. There have been signs of unrest in several districts of West Bengal. Reports indicate that anti-social groups are establishing their modules, particularly in Cooch Behar, which raises concerns about the safety and security of the country. In both BJP-ruled and non-BJP-ruled states, the identity cards of migrant laborers are being scrutinized. During questioning, many have admitted to being from Bangladesh and have mentioned three locations in Bengal—Barasat, Madhyamgram, and Siliguri—where they obtained fake identity documents.

Bhattacharya claimed that the livelihoods of migrant laborers from Bengal, who have gone to other states leaving their families behind, are being threatened by Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas. “Even in Kolkata, there is a colony in Kasba known as Gulshan Colony. How did this colony come up suddenly? What about those living behind the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate? Can they provide any identification? The ruling government is pushing this state and its people toward danger. Our stance is very clear: only citizens of Bharat should reside here. Just as fake voters have been identified in Bihar, fake voters will also be identified here.”

Meanwhile, according to sources within the TMC , Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hold a meeting with Trinamool MPs on Monday. She is scheduled to conduct a virtual meeting at 4:30 PM, during which she will convey to the MPs what they should say in Parliament and what issues they should raise.
