The 26-year-old was first admitted to a hospital in Kerala’s Ernakulam on September 4 for two days with a fever. He was admitted to the National Medical College Hospital with a fever again on September 10, a day after returning to the state.

He is being treated in isolation after being shifted to the Beliaghata hospital on Tuesday.

Health officials said the Nipah infection has not been confirmed in the patient so far. The contacts of Nipah-infected patients from Kerala’s Kozhikode district were told to isolate themselves for at least

21 days.

State Health Director Siddharth Niyogi said that no Nipah case has been reported in the state so far. The condition of the 26-year-old patient man is stable, he added.
