ASI hit by van escaping check

To limit vehicles’ speed,guard rails were kept on the road and in front of one such Halder was standing. His colleagues said that when a Dunlop-bound goods carrier was stopped,it tried to escape by overtaking another vehicle. “Halder came right in front of the van which was trying to speed away but the driver made no attempt to stop. He was hit and thrown by the roadside,” said one of his colleagues who was present there.

Other officials present on the spot,however,intercepted the vehicle. Halder,with severe injuries,had been admitted at a private nursing home at Mullick Bazar. He was kept in ventilation. Doctors said he had suffered severe head injury and was in a critical condition. Police seized the vehicle and the driver has been arrested.
