Preeta Banerjee,vice president of AMRI hospital Dhakuria and Sajid Hussain,an employee were today picked up. They were produced in the Alipore court and were remanded in police custody.

Hossain,the chief security officer and Banerjee,vice-president (administration) were arrested after they were found responsible in daily running of the hospital,said a senior police officer.

Earlier,six owners-directors,one executive director and two senior managers were arrested on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Six directors and two managers were remanded in Judicial custody have been lodged in Alipore Central Correctional Home,while another director R. S. Agarwal has been kept in SSKM hospital due to his illness.

Notice has been issued against the three directors — Preeti Surekha,Rahul Todi and Aditya Agarwal —who are still evading arrest. According to police sources,Preeta and Sajid were present in the hospital on December 9,when the fire broke out. “We are told by the witnesses and the relatives of the patients that they were misguided by both Preeta and Sajid. We had interrogated them earlier. They were found responsible in managing the operations of the hospital,” a senior police official added.
