Mithun Fatakeshto livens up stage for Pranab What was projected to be a gala show in which Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty were supposed to jointly address a rally at the Barabagan ground in Jangipur on Friday,ended in utter chaos with the actor leaving the dais in a huff. Mukherjee,after being informed of the pandemonium,did not even go to the rally. Thousands of frenzied people,curious to watch the hero of MLA Fatakeshto,the film in which Mithun played the role of an MLA fighting corruption in society,converged at the ground hours and eager to push forward broke two barricades. Later Mithun came on the stage flanked by Behrampore MP Adhir Choudhury and other Congress leaders and waved to the crowd. As he began speaking,the microphone developed a snag and enthusiastic supporters invaded the dais. Mithun was escorted away from the meeting ground by security personnel,who had to resort to lathicharge to ward off the crowd. Said 16-year-old Shahidul Islam,who travelled 30 km all the way from Lalgola: I am a great fan of Mithunda. I wanted to see him but couldnt. Before entering Behrampore,the actor was felicitated by Congress supporters at Nabagram and Sagardighi. I am overwhelmed by your love. Pranabda will definitely win, Mithun said. After the fiasco at Jangipur,the two came together at another rally in Aurangabad. And there Mithun played to the gallery by uttering dialogues of his film. I am not a political man. Pranabda is a universally respected person. Those who will say I have come here to do politics,beware Marbo ekhane,lash porbe sashane, Mithun said to the thundurous applause of the cheering crowd.
