11-year-old’s body found in Hooghly

The body of an 11-year-old boy was found near his residence at Janai in Hooghly on Sunday.

Kolkata:The body of an 11-year-old boy was found near his residence at Janai in Hooghly on Sunday. Police said the Class VI student had gone missing on February 26. The boy’s father,Gokul Halder,had lodged a missing complaint on February 27 and claimed he had received a ransom call for Rs 50 lakh from one Uttam Biswas. While Uttam is absconding,police have detained his wife and son for questioning.

Boat mishap toll rises to 4

Purulia:With one more body being found on Sunday,the toll in Purulia boat mishap,went up to four,police said. The body of a 14-year-old boy was fished out during the day while on Saturday,the bodies of three members of a family were found. They had gone missing after their boat overturned in Damodar river here. The boat disaster took place when a group of 12 people were on their way to a village in Jharkhand on Friday night. Police said eight of them swam ashore.

Fake currencies: 1 held

Kolkata:Police arrested one Shahanoyaj Kasuri with fake currency notes having face value of Rs 12 lakh. Kasuri was arrested from Maniktala area on Saturday.
