R.S. Khalsa of Jodhpur and Mitali Thadani of Jaipur with three points each were leading the pack in the men’s and women’s section respectively,in the fourth round on the second day of the LIC Zonal Level Chess Tournament being held at Jeevan Prakash Building,Sector 17-B,Chandigarh,on Thursday.

In the men’s section,Mahesh Chander Monga and A.K. Walia with 2.5 points each lay on the second spot,while Suraj Prakash,Jagjit Singh,Sunil Bansal,Kirti Sharma and Sanjeev Kumar all end with 2 points each in the fourth round.

In the women’s category,Mitali Thadani is followed by Neetu Ahluwalia and Savinderjeet Kaur with 2.5 points each. Meanwhile,Seema Bansal,Mamta Mukhi,Bhanumati Kundani,Nisha Gupta and Dimple Khatri have scored 2 points each.

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh’s ace tennis player and CLTA’s CHART trainee Vijayant Malik has reached the quarter-finals of the Futures Tournament in Kuwait. Vijayant,a probable for Commonwealth Games 2010,will now play top seed Sebastan Rieschick (Germany),who is currently ranked 464 in ATP.
