Hours after a late-night explosion near the international border in Sanyal village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, the police said on Thursday that it was an unsuccessful attempt by militants to attack a border police post. The explosion late Wednesday night was a high-intensity blast caused by an improvised explosive device, Kathua SP Shiv Deep Singh Jamwal said. However, it had fallen short of the target, the police said. An alert has been sounded in the area and nearby places and searches are in progress, the police said.
