Explosion in J&K’s Kathua failed attempt to attack border police post: Police

During searches on Thursday morning, the police found an unexploded grenade that was allegedly thrown by the militants towards the border post. However, it had fallen short of the target, the police said.

J&K: Explosion near International Border in Kathuaconfirming the explosion taking place near BSF Border Post Sanyal, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, said that the area fall under the jurisdiction of Hiranagar police station. “SSP (Kathua) proceeding to the spot,” he added.

Hours after a late-night explosion near the international border in Sanyal village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, the police said on Thursday that it was an unsuccessful attempt by militants to attack a border police post.

The explosion late Wednesday night was a high-intensity blast caused by an improvised explosive device, Kathua SP Shiv Deep Singh Jamwal said. There were no casualties or damage to property, he added.

An alert has been sounded in the area and nearby places and searches are in progress, the police said.
