“At around 7.30 am, we got information that two parties of one Gujjar family were fighting among themselves. We reached the spot and learnt that the families had fought over some past dispute. One person, Narpat Singh, died after being run over by a tractor during the dispute,” Additional Superintendent of Police, Bharatpur Rural, Om Prakash told reporters on Wednesday.
“Eight people of one family were injured of which four have been admitted to hospital. Four people from the other side have been injured, with two of them admitted to hospital,” he added.
The police said they have rounded up 13 people from both sides of the family.
“Prima facie it appears that the driver of the tractor is Damodar, the brother of the deceased Narpat. For a long time, the two sides had a dispute over a road. The fighting escalated this morning once again. We have rounded up Damodar and are questioning him. We are investigating the matter,” Additional SP Om Prakash said.
The Rajasthan police said in a statement that Director General of Police Umesh Mishra has directed the district police to monitor the situation and immediately arrest the murder accused.
