Bidhuri named BJP in-charge for Rajasthan’s Tonk district

The BJP has appointed MP Ramesh Bidhuri as its in-charge for Tonk, party officials said.
The South Delhi MP was in news recently for his hate speech and hurling communal slurs and abuse at a fellow MP, Danish Ali of the BSP, in the House, repeatedly, during a special session of the Parliament.
Tonk district has four Assembly constituencies out of which the BJP currently has only one, Malpura.
The other three are with Congress: Deoli-Uniara with Harish Chandra Meena, Niwai with Prashant Bairwa and with Sachin Pilot.
The district also has a sizable Muslim population and hence the BJP perhaps hopes to benefit from the polarisation with Bidhuri’s entry.
Over the past few months, AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen) has also been hoping to make inroads into Tonk and plans to field candidates here.
BJP’s Tonk district president Rajendra Parana said that Bidhuri also visited Tonk after his appointment. “His name was announced on Tuesday and he then came straight to Tonk and was here till about 10 am Wednesday morning,” Parana said.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Bidhuri shared photos of a “coordination” meeting for Tonk with state president C P Joshi and others at the party’s state office in Jaipur.
With Bidhuri’s appointment coming after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa’s speeches in the state where he played up identity politics, the BJP may be looking to bet big on identity politics in the poll bound state.
