Teams from 16 states will present their art forms during the ongoing Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams joint executive officer Sada Bhargavi said Monday.
Bhargavi said the cultural activities would be held throughout the festival and offer a visual treat to the pilgrims. She said that teams from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Manipur would perform during the nine-day fest.
“They will present traditional dances, music and folklore. Teams from Tirumala and Tirupati will also be given an opportunity,” she said, adding that the TTD decided to organise cultural activities on a bigger scale after such activities held during the annual festival received immense appreciation from pilgrims in the past.
Many activities were selected by reviewing the videos of cultural teams of various states. Artists from Andhra Pradesh performed on the first day while those from Karnataka will perform on day two, Tamil Nadu on day three and Telangana on day four. On the garuda seva day, it will be a package of the best shows by all the participating states, according to the TTD.
Students of the TTD-run SV College of Music and Dance will perform during both the morning and evening vahana sevas, while students of SV Bala Mandir as well as doctors and paramedicals of the BIRRD Ortho Hospital will showcase their talents in front of vahana sevas, Bhargavi added.
To manage the huge rush expected during the Navaratri festivities, the TTD has introduced an app designed for regulating vehicle movements and managing parking lots in Tirupati and Tirumala. Information technology general manager L M Sandeep Reddy said the TTD had changed its website address to https://ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in.
