19 cadavers donated, 58 organs transplanted in May

In May, 19 cadavers were donated, of which 58 organs were successfully transplanted in Gujarat, Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said in a statement Wednesday. According to Patel, this was the highest cadaver donation and transplantation done in a month in the history of Gujarat.

Patel said that the 58 transplanted organs include 34 kidneys, 18 levers, three hearts, a pair each of lungs and hands as well as a small intestine.

The minister added that recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has felicitated State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation and it has helped increase cadaver donations in the state.
