In an apparent security breach,a woman entered Parliament on Tuesday without a valid pass, when the session was in progress and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other MPs were inside.
The incident took place at 6.40 pm on Tuesday. The woman had entered through gate number 8 of Parliament House, according to sources. She was later identified as one Dr Anita.
Sources said she had come to meet an official inside Parliament, though security officials refused to divulge more details about her and the official she had come to meet.
No one,not even relatives of ministers or Members of Parliament, can enter Parliament complex without a valid pass.
According to a source, officials monitoring CCTVs noticed the woman going inside without the pass and checked with other officers at the entrance. But even after security officers found out that the woman had come to meet an official inside Parliament House, they were on their toes for a while until her identity was verified.
There are sensors and checking at every point in Parliament and it is unlikely that anyone can enter without a valid pass, the source said. Director,Security (Operations),Parliament,K Vijay Kumar said,There are some exceptions. In some cases of urgency or requirement,a person can enter with proper intimation to authorities concerned. It may be done in the form of announcement or instructions.
Kumar said the reception is closed every day after 6 pm,and on holidays as well, and different procedures are followed to enter Parliament, but that is not considered a security breach. Kumar refused to divulge who the woman had come to meet due to security reasons.
