Will file supplementary chargesheet by Feb 24: Delhi Police to court in MCOCA case against Balyan

The Delhi Police informed a court on Saturday that by February 24, it will file a supplementary chargesheet in a case lodged against former AAP MLA Naresh Balyan under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Balyan was arrested on December 4, last year, and is currently in judicial custody in the case.

The police informed Special Judge Kaveri Baweja that the investigation against co-accused Rohit alias Anna and Sachin Chikara is almost complete.

The court also reserved order on taking cognisance of a supplementary chargesheet the police had filed against co-accused Ritik alias Peter. It is likely to take cognisance of the chargesheet on February 24.

Balyan, who was also booked in an extortion case, has been granted bail by a court in the case. According to the police, his name had cropped up in the MCOCA case as an alleged facilitator to settle an extortion demand made by gangster Kapil Sangwan to a businessman. Sangwan, who is purportedly operating from the UK, has also been booked under MCOCA.
