A Metro commuter,experiencing a migraine attack,left behind a bag with Rs 2.2 lakh in cash at the baggage screening machine at the Green Park station. Forty minutes later,the man received a call after a CISF constable alerted his seniors and handed them a visiting card he found with the money in the bag.
The incident occurred on Monday when CISF constable K Venkatesh,on duty at the screening machine in the Green Park station,noticed that a bag had not been claimed by anyone for more than five minutes. He opened the bag and stared at its contents there was cash,lots of it.
The bag was taken to the station control room. Venkatesh alerted his seniors. The CCTV footage was being checked to identify the man when a visiting card was found in the bag. The man was contacted. He returned to the station within an hour, a CISF source said.
The commuter,a resident of Jaipur who was in Delhi for work,requested that his name be not made public. He told Newsline he was extremely worried after he realised that he had left the bag since the money belonged to one of his clients.
I have a problem of severe migraine and was going through one of the attacks when I forgot my bag. I travelled in the Metro for 40 minutes,my blood pressure climbed. I am very thankful to the CISF and admire the constable who found the bag and returned it to me. I had lost everything when I lost the bag with the money, he said.
CISF spokesperson Rohit Katiyar said: The incident happened at 8.50 pm on Monday at the Green Park Metro station. The CISF has decided to reward constable K Venkatesh for his honesty and dedication to duty.
