WFI sexual harassment case: Police protection given to minor wrestler

Seven players had filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment by Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

The Delhi Police have given protection to the minor who is among the seven players who had filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment by Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

A senior officer said that due protection has been given to the minor girl by the district police and the First Information Report (FIR) pertaining to her case will be handed over to her family members.

The Delhi Police on Friday said that they have lodged two FIRs, one under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and the other under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section pertaining to outraging the modesty of a woman in connection with the sexual harassment allegations levelled against Singh.

DCP (New Delhi) Pranav Tayal had said that both the FIRs against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have been lodged at Connaught Place Police Station and an investigation has been initiated in both cases.

The copy of the FIRs pertaining to all adult wrestlers have been handed over to them at the Connaught Place police station, officers said.
