Wet weekend ahead as Met predicts rain,hail

The weatherman has predicted a wet weekend for the Capital,so expect lots of rain and thundershowers to keep you company over the next few days.

According to the Met department,western disturbance and upper air cyclonic circulation is in motion over northwestern India,which will lead to precipitation starting Thursday.

Certain areas in Delhi can also expect hailstorms.

The rain and hail will reduce the maximum temperature to about 23 degrees on Thursday and will keep the minimum temperature around 10-12 degrees,Met department said. On Wednesday,the day temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius and night was cool at 10.1 degrees.

“This month rainfall has been good in the city as there has been a formation of at least three western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir,” said the officer at the Safdarjung Met Station. He added that hail is formed when temperature dips.

“During last week’s rain,hail was reported from several areas of Delhi. This time,too,we can expect it,” he said.

So far,February has seen four days of rain. Till Wednesday evening,the Met Department had recorded 26.4 mm total rainfall this month,about 8 mm excess. With fresh rain expected,this might just be the start to another excessively wet year. Last year was named the wettest in 32 years.
