The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Monday appointed Vijay Kumar Singh, a 1995 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service officer, as the Vice-Chairperson of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). Singh, who will replace Subhasish Panda, has nearly three decades of experience and currently serves as a Finance Member, DDA. Before joining DDA, Singh held various posts, including that of director of Finance in the Planning Commission, Controller of Accounts in the Ministry of External Affairs, and director in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance. His work in the Finance Ministry included implementing the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations. He was also involved in the Expenditure Management Commission led by Bimal Jalan. Singh began his career with public broadcaster Doordarshan as an assistant controller of accounts, and also worked on deputation at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management. Singh holds a degree in Economics from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, and Master's and MPhil degrees from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
