“The victim’s mother lodged a complaint stating that her son had gone to meet a school friend near Kherki Daula toll plaza after the friend insisted on seeing him. The two had a dispute about two months ago. The friend took the victim to a rented accommodation in Sector 48 where, along with another classmate, he allegedly fired at the victim with intent to kill”, a police spokesperson said.

A team from the Sadar police station reached the spot after receiving information from the control room. The Scene of Crime, FSL and fingerprint teams were also called for inspection.

“From the spot, police recovered one pistol, one magazine, five live cartridges and one empty shell. From a box inside the room, another magazine and 65 live cartridges were seized. The two accused minors were apprehended within hours on November 9”, the spokesperson added.

During initial questioning, they told the police that all three, the victim and the two accused, study in Class 11 at the same school.

“The boy who fired the shot harboured a grudge over the earlier quarrel. On the night of November 8, around 9 pm, he first called the victim, met him on the way, had food together, picked up the second friend and then took the victim to the rented house where the shooting took place.”

Police said the pistol belonged to the father of the boy who fired the shot. The father is a property dealer and had kept the licensed weapon at home.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered and further investigation is underway.

The Gurgaon Police has appealed to all licensed weapon holders to keep their firearms out of reach of children.

In his post, the DGP said:

“I pray to God that there is no loss of life.I have told the SPs and CPs to alert all arms licence holders in their areas about such dangers. They should arrange necessary training for them on safe handling and storage of weapons.
The generation that plays video games 🎮 has no idea that shooting is not a game. Parents and schools must teach children people skills. Then there will be no occasion for fights or quarrels.
