After the success of Dabangg, talks of a sequel keep the excitement growing
When Salman Khan swaggered on to the big screen as Chulbul Pandey in his brother Arbaaz Khans debut production Dabangg, the actor walked right into an unprecedented opening, with the film earning Rs 48.5 crore in the first weekend alone. The box-office coup the biggest ever in Indian cinematic historyhad the Dabangg team plotting to make its sequel even before it had completed its first week run.
The movie saw the debut of Shatrughan Sinhas daughter Sonakshi, who too believes that a sequel would be just the right thing to hold on to the hype. Dabangg 2 is a long way from now but I wouldnt like to change anything about my character Rajo. The character didnt require me to dance in this film, but if need be in the sequel,I will definitely be up for a longer jig.
While Salman had predicted that the movies simplicity will work in its favour,Arbaaz hopes to stick to the formula in the sequel. At some levels we get a certain character right. But Chulbul was perfect at every level. It is the audience who wants us to make the sequel, he says.
The sequel will take at least two years because of Salmans prior commitments. I am not aiming to make it bigger or costlier than Dabangg ,just better, he says.
