Take a dip

It made a splash at this summer’s soiree at the Lap garden bar. Stitch-free,in block colours and layered with Swarovski crystals,it made an easy transition from day to night. The Capital’s stiletto set — socialites Pia Pauro and Ameeta Seth and fashion designer Varun Sardana — positively purred about it. Shrivan Bhatia and Narresh Kukreja,the luxury swimwear designer duo who operate out of a Hauz Khas studio-cum-outlet,marked their second public event in Samrat hotel on Wednesday with four swimsuits on display from their spring-summer collection.

Their new line includes the “100 percent stitch-free bikinis” that make swish 30-somethings eager to take a plunge. Speaking about their journey since they debuted a the LIFW in 2009,Bhatia,26,says,“We still count LIFW as our first event.” Post-LIFW,the duo has snapped up deals with five retailers and are also retailing in touristy Phuket. Kukreja says that the bulk of the customers comprises 30-plus women “who no longer wish to wear Speedos like their daughters”.

Up next,they are moving towards a more complete beach look with shirts,trousers,flip flops and peep-toe flats that would be unfurled at the LFW. They also plan to have a stall at Wills India Lifestyle Fashion Week. The swimsuits are pegged at Rs 4,200.
