The Delhi Police Crime Branch is probing a recruitment racket,in which certain persons posed as Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and duped people by offering them jobs in the force. Sources said the racketeers have earned lakhs of rupees by duping people across the country.

Having received more than 20 such complaints, the CISF has also issued an advisory, cautioning the public that touts in different parts of the country were cheating them by issuing fake

offer letters.

Among those duped is a state-level boxing champion from Chandigarh. The boxer was travelling from UP to Chandigarh in a train in December 2012,when a man dressed as a police officer approached the 24-year-old and her parents, claiming that he was from the CISF and that he could get her a government job.

“I was in my sports gear and was travelling with my parents. He approached me and told me that he could get me recruited as an assistant sub-inspector. My father agreed and we exchanged numbers. After a series of phone calls,he called me to different locations from January to June and told me to hand over all my education and sports certificates. I had met two men who were in uniform. On June 7,I met one of the accused and gave him over Rs 1 lakh, which he said was required as fee. On June 9,I met another accused at the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) in Hyderabad, where he handed me a call letter. I then came to Delhi, after the man asked me to meet him in Ghaziabad. But on reaching Delhi, when I called the numbers the two men had given me,all the phones were switched off,” the complainant told Newsline.

Sources said CCTV cameras installed at the railway station captured the accused and the complainant was asked to identify them.

“The complainant identified the men in the footage and their pictures are clear. A manhunt has been launched to arrest them. This is an organised racket. While several such persons have been arrested, more gang members are to be nabbed,” a senior police officer said. A case of cheating and forgery was registered.

CISF sources said complaints have been received from Mandir Marg in Delhi,Barwaha in MP,Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu,Katihar and Bhojpur in Bihar, among other places in the country.

“A number of criminal cases have been registered against them and some of them have been arrested from various parts of the country. It has also come to notice that these elements create fake websites and put fake results on them to convince the general public about their credentials… whenever there is recruitment in the CISF,advertisements are published in employment news, national and regional newspapers as well on the CISF’s official website. This is issued for awareness of general public,” Deputy Inspector General (Chief PRO) Anant Kumar Singh said.
