You are magnanimous, let’s find a solution: HC tells St Stephen’s, seeks way out of admission deadlock
During the hearing, Justice Sharma suggested that DU and St Stephen’s College should find a middle ground.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi High Court Monday remarked that St Stephen’s College is “magnanimous” while hearing a plea filed by the college seeking directions to facilitate the admission of 19 candidates under the Christian quota in the college, a process that has purportedly been stalled by Delhi University (DU).
During the hearing, Justice Sharma suggested that DU and St Stephen’s College should find a middle ground.
Imploring the parties to arrive at an agreeable position, she orally remarked, “If it was given (up) to me, I would protect everybody, even those who couldn’t reach court… It is my last effort where I am trying where a midway can be found… I’m trying to mediate… I have read the Bible, my view is much much broader, it is beyond this courtroom… Children are children, parents are parents. As a judge, this bothers me, it haunts me… You are a magnanimous college, let us try and find (a solution)… There is nothing that is remedy-less in the world.”
The court is expected to hear the matter next on October 3.
Earlier, the High Court had directed that seven students be given admission at St Stephen’s College — as allocated by the varsity — which the college had opposed on the ground that cit would exceed its sanctioned intake.
Subsequently, St Stephen’s had moved the HC espousing the cause of 19 Christian-quota students whose admissions to the college were not confirmed by the university.
