Spoilt for Choice

From voluminous gowns by Gauri and Nainika and avant-garde designs by Falguni, this week seems to have something for everyone.

We have barely recovered from the opulence showcased at the India Couture Week 2014 and it’s already time for another one. Mark your calendars as the second edition of BMW India Bridal Fashion Week (IBFW) 2014 is about to begin.

On Tuesday evening at DLF Emporio mall in Delhi, the dates, line-up, sponsors and venue of the fashion gala were announced. To be held from August 7 to 10 at the mall, IBFW opens with Tarun Tahiliani presenting his bridal range. The line-up is impressive and boasts a number of veterans from the industry. “JJ Valaya will close the event and other participating designers include Ashima-Leena, Suneet Varma, Raghavendra Rathore, Kotwara by Meera and Muzzaffar Ali, Gauri and Nainika and many others. It’s a dream line-up,” says Vijay Singh, Founder and MD, Fashion One International, the Mumbai-based company behind the event. It is the company’s sixth bridal week in India.

Expect a bevy of Bollywood stars to grace the runway during IBFW. Already giving a glimpse of it was actor Shraddha Kapoor who, along with the designers, sponsors and Singh, unveiled the logo on Tuesday.

From voluminous gowns by Gauri and Nainika and avant-garde designs by Falguni and Shane Peacock to the ethereal richness of Valaya and Tahiliani, this week seems to have something for everyone. Here’s hoping they have ironed out the kinks that IBFW suffered from last year.
