An alleged shooter of the Himanshu Bhau gang, with a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head, was arrested after an exchange of fire with police personnel in Najafgarh, the Delhi Police said.
The accused has been identified as Ankit, 25, a resident of Gorad village in Haryana’s Sonipat.
According to officers, on October 28, four people had opened fire at one Rohit Lamba, following which a case was registered under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act at the Najafgarh police station. The investigation revealed the involvement of the Bhau gang in the shooting and pointed to Ankit, a shooter, being one of the accused, the police said.

On Tuesday, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in Dwarka received information that Ankit was coming near Sai Baba Mandir, Najafgarh. At about 8.05 am, when the police team tried to apprehend him near the bus stand at UER-II, he attempted to escape and fired three rounds at the police party, officers said. One bullet hit the bulletproof jacket of Head Constable Kuldeep. In retaliation, Kuldeep fired two rounds, while Sonu, another Head Constable, fired one round, with one bullet hitting Ankit in the right leg.
The police said Ankit had previously fired at Haryana police personnel in 2020 and injured one constable in the incident.
