“She said that she would not be able to go to gate no.2, where the incident happened, to catch the bus. We are considering consulting a psychiatrist after she recovers,” said Kamesh Khatana, father of 8-year-old Sharanya Khatana, who was among the three hit by a car in front of Eldeco Amantaran society in Noida’s Sector 119 while taking part in Diwali festivities on Sunday.

“It will take around one month for her to recover. I find myself guilty that she has got such a bad memory. It will haunt her whole life, it should have not happened,” he said.

“We had planned to go outside to eat on the Diwali… and the children were insisting to see the firecrackers. Thus we stopped at the gate when the car rammed into the people…”

Khatana further said that the other two injured in the incident are still in the hospital. His friend Saurabh Singh, 43, is out of the ICU but his father-in-law Vijay Kumar, 72is still on ventilator support.

A senior police official said that IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) has been added in the FIR, apart from section 279 (Rash driving) and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).

A person named Vikas Yadav, a resident of Sorkha village and the driver of the red hatchback car was arrested in the case.
